The best game console of this generation
If you buy a PS3 you will NOT be disappointed. In their advertisements they say that the system just does everything and this is absolutely true. I first got my 80gb PS3 during the August 08 release so I have a "phat" version of the console rather than the slim. I personally have not utilized the Linux functionality but that is a good option for those who would like to use it ( apparently the upcoming hack of the system will be through only a loophole in the Linux-system so it won't be available for slim users).

br /The hardware in this console is the best of this generation. Out of box you will get built-in WIFI connectivity (0 accessory on the 360), free online game play ( a year on the 360), and a built-in Bluray player. The Bluray player will only really come in handy if you do have a HDTV but why wouldn't you have an HDTV if you are going to purchase a primarily HD console?

br /There are so many good games for the console that it is unimaginable. Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, MAG, etc etc. You honestly will not have the time or money to play all of the greats but that honestly cannot be *that* bad of a thing when you think about it. I will give the 360 it's due credit in the game category as they do have some good games but I still like my PS3 better than my 360.

br /Overall, I would recommend this console to anyone looking for a solid system that can do a multitude of things. Whether you are streaming your 1080p content from your computer, getting a nuke on PSN on the new Call of Duty, watching a Bluray movie with the family, downloading Fat Princess from the Playstation Store, or using a cluster of PS3s to build a supercomputer - this console is for you!

Good
They've made it better, stronger, faster, they have the technology.

br /You just can't beat rolling a blue ray player into a game console. It's been years since it's release and (good) blue ray players are still priced from 0 on the low end to +0 at price-hiked retail stores. I've backed up all my DVDs on to an external hard drive and put them in storage, and now I can watch any of them through the system. Oh, and Netflix works on it now as well, I've been watching Faulty Towers(sp?). Lastly, the gaming aspect of it holds some of the best exclusive games. Uncharted 2 for example walks the realism line now with 1080p high definition. When you cut out the price of Microsoft's Xbox360's accessories, Online membership and controllers that "Omnomnom" all the batteries, the extra (?) retail cost of the PS3 starts to make sense. I previously owned two Xbox360s, they both broke down after about a year, during that time I also broke two controllers. each Dual Shock 3(ps3) controller is rechargeable with USB2.0 and has incredible distance. I was lucky enough to get 2 of them with my purchase. I was pleased to find the connections are the industry standard HDMI cables, so there was no 'special PS3' connectors I needed to buy for Hi-Definition TV's. It's also very quiet and the new model (slim) makes even less noise.

br /I guess what I'm trying to say is I got a next-gen console for about , thanks!
